PROVIDENCE over Garinger in 4 1/2 Innings

Shane Small (3-1) and Erik Summerville combined on the one-hitter for PHS. Garinger made some nice defensive plays: they TURNED A DOUBLEPLAY in the first and their Right Fielder made a diving catch of a line drive in the third.
Ryan Semeniuk Homered for the Winners.

Providence (18-3, 11-1) plays @ Olympic Tuesday Night.

K-town now has a 2 game lead over East Rowan in the NPC. West Rowan and NW Cabarrus are currently tied for the lead. Last week of the regular season coming up and nothing is settled yet.

    Mooresville.....200 031 0 --- 6R 10H 4E 8LOB
    W. Rowan .....150 000 1 --- 7R 12H 1E 10LOB

    W. Rowan chases Mooresville starter Von Tilley in the second but Aubrey Meadows (the same kid who took the Falcons into extra innings a couple of weeks ago) allows the Mooresville bats to get going until they tie the game in the top of the 6th. But The Falcons load the bases in the bottom of the 7th and Craig Beasley gets a dribbler down the first base line to stay fair long enough to score the game winning run off of Justin West who entered the game in the bottom of the 6th with bases loaded an nobody out, he was'nt so fortunate this time around. Wade Moore made a diving catch early in the game for West, saving a couple of runs. The Blue Devils Seth Rhyne barely misses a home run in the top of the 7th, getting a hard luck double off the top of the wall in dead left field. I think the Falcon faithful will agree with me about the umpires, they were pretty bad. But it was a good ball game none the less. This Mooresville team has really learned to battle, they should be proud. I sure am.

    Myers Park 13, Olympic 9

David Castevens hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh to give Myers Park a 12-9 lead. The Mustangs overcame EIGHT errors and a disastrous first inning, when they went down 7-0 and looked like the Bad News Bears. Matt Henney got the win in relief for Myers Park, and Matt Butler came on in the seventh and held the 13-9 win. I don't have all the hitting stats tonight, but Cat's grand slam was the key blow. Scott Matthews, Billy Zwier and Jeremy Mathis had multiple hits for the Mustangs.

With the Myers Park win and the East 4-3 victory over South, the SW4A is really tightening in the 2-6 spots. The Mustangs are still in sixth at 6-6, but they are 4-1 in the second half after going 2-5 in the first half. They need wins next week over South and Butler to get to 8-6 and have any shot at a tie for third. Olympic falls to 7-5 with a key game against Providence on Tuesday. East and Butler are also both 7-5 with a key match-up also on Tuesday. South is now 9-3, two games behind Providence with two to go. At 11-1 Providence can clinch the regular season title outright with a win over either Olympic on Tuesday or South on Friday.

Here are the standings for the top 6 and the remaining opponents:
    Providence 11-1 (Olympic, South)
    South 9-3 (Myers Park, Providence)
    East 7-5 (Butler, Waddell)
    Olympic 7-5 (Providence, Garinger)
    Butler 7-5 (East, Myers Park)
    Myers Park 6-6 (South, Butler)

Next week will be a lot of fun!

Charlotte Christian 10; Country Day 0

    WP: Whitley (NO HITTER)
    LP: Whitman

Christian played flawless tonight as they swept country day. Chris Whitley pitched a gem and recorded the NO HITTER for the knights. With bases loaded and christian up 2-0, k. fulginiti hit a bases clearing 2B in the gap to widen the margin to 5-0. the knights cruised from there and made all the plays in the field including an incredible diving play to keep the No-No alive by SS C. Bradley. christian swept the series and will conclude conference play with a 3 game series with Latin next week.

    Christian:
    Chase Martin 2-3, 2B
    Kurt Fulginiti 1-2, 2B 3rbis
    Max Fulginiti 3-3
    Jared Bard 1-1 rbi
