    East Meck vs Vance

    Vance 00000 0
    East M 1327X 13

Over at their field of dreams the EM Eagles opened the season against Vance. 4 EM pitchers (Little, Trosch, Crews, and Leach) combined for either a no or 1 hitter (all depends on the official scorekeeper's ruling on a fly to right). Jonathan Crews had a 2 run HR in addition to striking out 5 in his 2 innings of work on the bump. Mallard Creek comes calling tomorrow.

By the way the burgers and dogs were as good as ever and the field is in even better shape this year.

Person has 2 tough losses to begin the season...

    Thursday 3/4/10

    JF Webb 12, Person 2

A well played close game till the bottom of the 6th inning... Pitchers duel on the mound between Person's RHP Dylan Dickens and Webb's RHP Dylan Newton. Newton hit upper 80's consistently and topped out at 91. Dickens was Mid 80's (topped at 85-86 I believe) and his movement was nasty. The wheels fell off for Person when we made a pitching change and the Webb bats got hot as they hit 2 HR's (a 3-run and GS) after Person made 2 costly errors. Freshman SS Nick Wallace drove in both of Person's runs with 2 hits and Dickens was 2-3 at the plate.

Person stranded 10 runners, (7-8 in scoring position as we didn't get key hits)

(Buntandrun can supply more details about Webb's potent offensive production, but the score was NO indication of the game at all)

    3/5/10
    South Granville 8, Person 7

IN a see-saw battle in Creedmoor, South Granville scrapped their way to a 8-7 win. This game went back and forth as Person played error-free ball in this game. Dylan Dickens went 2-3 with a 3 run double in a Person 5 run 5th inning. Walks and key hits by South Granville keyed them in a 5 run 6th. South Granville had 11 hits and Person had 7. This was a well-played game that saw 2 teams battle throughout. Cody Ellis (3B, a Patrick Henry Community College signee this week) went 2-4 with a RBI also for the Rockets. Travis Vaughan (JR) had a stellar game behind the dish throwing out 2 Viking runners (one on a steal and one on a pick-off) and displayed a powerful arm and excellent skills behind the dish. He also went 1-3. A bases-loaded strikeout ended the game for the Rockets in the top of the 7th.

Person is 0-2 and faces a tough Cardinal Gibbons team on Tuesday in Raleigh. South Granville is now 1-1 and Plays Webb on Tuesday.

hopefully Coach Ferrell will provide more South Granville stats.

    South Granville vs. Person

The Vikings were paced at the plate by Jr. SS Amos Tilley who went 3-5 with a 2B and 4 RBI. Senior OF Cory Hicks went 2-4 with 2 2B and 2 RBI, while Clarence Peace (Senior 3B) went 2-4. Sophomore righty Zack Cooper pitched 4 2/3, Jr. LHP Luke Kelley picked up the win in relief with 1 1/3 innings, while Sr. LHP Will Bullock came on in the 7th to pick up the save, working out of a bases loaded jam, including runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs.
