    Hopewell 14
    Ragsdale 10 8 innings

A long, long, not very pretty game. Score was tied 9-9 at the end of seven. There were 21 walks rung up tonight. More from the umps ridiculous strike zone than poor pitching. I've never seen so many 3-2 10 pitch at bats in my life.

I'll post a little more later. Bad news for Ragsdale was Soph DeSean Anderson hit the wall in the second inning and left the game with concussion. Tough to lose your lead off man ( and leading hitter). Hope he can make it back soon.

Hopewell did a lot of good things. Very good hitting team. Very good team, period. Doesn't surprise me they beat Providence. Coach Brown is loaded. 4 hour game. They brought a big crowd and as nice as ever been in our joint. Fun night. Knowledgable baseball people.

Umpires did make themselves the stars of the show but they called it both ways. Umpires don't swing the bat or throw and field. Congratulations on the win for Hopewell. Hopefully we get to go down there next year.

I was very impressed with the crowd Hopewell brought with them considering both the distance and the late change in the play date. Hopewell really did hit the ball well. 16 hits in total. The catcher Fisher was I believe 4-6 3 singles and an inside the park HR ( that was the shot to straight away center that DeSean tracked down but hit the wall as he was trying to make the catch). Prouse? was 3-4 with a 2 run homer and 2 singles. Several other players had a multi hit game.

For Ragsdale - they had 10 hits ( all singles) Billy Stone was 2-4, Ben Fultz and Cody Myers were 2-5.

The ump had a postage stamp size strike zone early but then got very inconsistent. I'm sure Hopewell wasn't very happy with him (and the 13 walks) either.

Tyler Woods pitched four strong innings, gave up one hit and one unearned run.
Matt Youtsey had another big hit early in the game that put SM ahead to stay. He had 2 RBI's.

Caleb Cunningham (2010) had two hits as well.

    A few comments:
It looks as if Enka is ready to challenge for the MAC this year. North Henderson is now 3-0 under their 1st year coach. Swain continues to roll.
