I am not as up on the training techniques as those that have posted, but one important thing is to find a buddy to work out with. Someone that has the same desire to improve as your son. The two will be a great benefit to each other.

Weighted balls seem to a be a quick fix and the results somewhat temporary compared to a regimented conditioning program that includes long toss, running, lifting (mostly core muscles and legs) and the use of the surgical tubing in the off season. Velocity will also increase as a pitcher matures physically and continues to refine his delivery.

But remember, nothing replaces good old fashioned hard work. Of course, natural ability helps....some kids are just blessed with great arms.

Long toss (done properly) no rainbow throws. Must be done on a regular schedule though.

Most important of them all, is your "Mechanics".

The more consistent you are, the harder you will throw. Just look at Roger Clemens, 43 years old and still can consistently hit the mid 90"s.

As far as the weighted balls, to each his own. I don't like them because after you warm up with them, you have a tendency to choke the ball.
