    Landon Powell ('01, Apex HS) hit his first major league homerun today. Powell is Suzuki's backup in Oakland.

    his hs ball at Apex and college at the University of South Carolina.

    yes Landon played at the real Carolina. Not to be confused with UNC.

    You tell em' Braves.....And I'm liking JM15 more and more as well. Us Gamecocks have to stick together. Glad to see Landon finally made it after several serious injuries that set him back.:worshippy: OH, BY THE WAY, ALUMNI GAME IN NEW STADIUM OCT 23, its a Friday and they are going to make a day of it. Golf in morning and game in early evening. Will pass along more info as Kristi sends it out.

    Lets set the record straight once and for all....

    USC = Southern California, the nation's top football school

    "Carolina" = North Carolina, the nation's top basketball and baseball school.

    If you are attempting to refer to the school in Columbia who's mascot is the Gamecocks, the abbreviations "USC" and "Carolina" are off limits.

    In all seriousness, congrats to Landon Powell! That's awesome.

    hahaha...I guess it depends on where you are from. In SC, people get shot down there for referring to UNC as "Carolina"--and they are still trying to figure out if those UNC folks are so smart, why'd they call themselves Tar Heels. Heck, they don't even want to know what that is.

    ..and as far as USC-West; that's in L.A.--'nuff said. :zaehne:
