In the Western NC bass fishing conference, the early standings have been released. Points are cumulative over the season and are based on the lbs of fish caught.

    Top 4 Schools ....
    West Rowan, 164 1/2
    Butler, 158
    Hopewell, 143 3/4
    East Gaston, 124

    Trailing the pack terribly ...
    South Meck 1 3/4
    North Meck 1/2
    Mount Pleasant 0

    About the leaders:
West Rowan is off to an early lead ... their dirt infield gives no cover for the bass, allowing net scooping by infielders. This can be a great advantage. Butler's hole is filling well and the fish are thick, but the OF must wear scuba gear now. The lake beyond the CF fence at Hopewell has extended halfway up the bank to the football field. East Gaston was formerly 6 miles from the Catawba River .... it's now river-front property and they are reaping the advantages.

    About the trailers:
The green dye coating the field at SM is driving off most of the fish and what is left is difficult to spot. The diaper dandies at North Meck seem afraid to touch worms and you NEVER catch fish on top of a mountain.

    MegaConference Bass-Fishing Tournament....

Luck, timing and surprise has a lot to do with fishing. It should be noted that the Central Cabarrus baseball/fishing team has just returned from their secret cove on the southern end of the lake. Give the Central boys credit because they have gathered a total of 178 points from their catch so far.

Move them up to the lead in your standings...:D

The conference officals disallowed their score due to the fact that none of the fish were caught on the BASEBALL FIELD proper. The cove behind the 1st base dugout is in FOUL territory.

C'MON UMP!!! FOUL BALL??? CAN'T YOU SEE???

Lets give them "little" Central boys credit for catching their little fishys, foul or fair. We could actually recognize their 178 points, but just give them a little penalty because they are "fishing" over their heads. How bout that? :D

Only if they cooked them BEFORE the end of the 7th inning.

    NEWS BULLETIN...flash...flash

......a mysterious fish was just landed at the banks of 3rd base at the Bagdome...not exactly sure what it is.....head is shaped a little like a horse....and it's certainly green

It weighed in a whopping 175lbs....before it started flopping around. It appears as if it is out of it's element

anyway, South Meck has taken a commanding lead going into the weekend

MOORESVILLE PLAYER CATCHES SNAKE HEAD FISH

Mooresville- Pitcher Tyler Lackey was casting a green pumkin Zoom lizard from second base when the exotic animal nailed the lure. "Almost jerked the rod outta my hand" was what Lackey told his coach. The fight ensued and lasted nearly two minutes before the young angler was able to club the fish in the head with his bat. "I aint diving for no sinking liners anymore" JV center fielder Caleb Diggs said as he motored away in his dads Sea Nymph. Happy Fishing Everyone. ;)

But Kannapolis would win all fishing tournaments of this type, we would get to use Kannapolis Lake , and everyone knows about the fish stories from there.
