I don't know about that list. I know for a fact that two of the 10U's listed there are not even playing in that tournament. They are playing in the USFA State.

    Too many tournaments

My DD has aged out of travel ball (actually has her last year of 18U left but after the college season will take the summer off with the exception of pitching some Gold qualifiers with one of her college friends teams) so I've watched this scene for a while. There are now simply too many tournaments in general and too few quality ones. I know of no solution, though. As long as people are willing to spend their $$ on medicore teams playing on fields that are never groomed with umpires that are barely trained then nothing will change. I don't mean to imply that the tournament referred to in this thread is not OK. Just my observation about NC fastpitch in general. When I look back on some of the situations we played in 12U/14U I really question our sanity!

The USFA State is in Kinston
The WFC State is in Raleigh.

That is correct. That is why I know some of the teams listed as playing in the WFC State are not going to be there. Because they are going to be in Kinston at the USFA State.

    College players in summer ball

In my DD's case she's still age-eligible for 18U as are many fr/soph. It's complicated though as some show-cases have now ban college players (for obvious reasons). Also, as a pitcher she has no need to move back to 40'. ASA Gold however is 43' and you often see college players there. The 2005 National gold champions VA Shamrocks included Courtney Bures (Miss State), Keri Lounge (U of MD), Dani Woods (Alabama). Not a bad infield! Even if you are aged out there are opportunities in 23U but not in this part of the country. I'm pretty sure C Cox (UNC) and S Ervin (NC State) both pitched in California last summer. The GA Fire organization has a 23 U team and sponsors a couple of tournaments in GA.
