    Oh Happy Day! Braves Lives!!!

I was beginning to think someone was slipping something in your coffee. You've been awfully mellow these past few weeks. I missed you! I feel so much better now.

Accepting my local school for what it is and making the best of it?

    Hmmmmmm........no thanks! :icon_bs:

    Braves

I could not have said it better myself. It is a personal decision that a family makes for the sole reason of surrounding their kid with positive influences and putting them in an atmosphere that they can succeed in!

What about the teammate that doesnt get to play because a kid tranfers? And the team he left? Whining is when a kid or his parents dont like his coach and go through loopholes to put him in a school that he perfers, for whatever reason. Parents know, players know why a kid is on a team and how he got there. They may feell like winners, but ill take the high road on this one.

Wow...didn't mean to open a can of worms.

There was no whining on my part...just stating an opinion. I am not at a school where transfers are an issue and I don't spend time worrying about it, just have a different opinion than some of you. I thought that's what message boards were for...to share opinions.

I think we can agree to disagree.

    I hear ya.....

....brother. If I may, Hey, you started off great and then got off, a little bit, as we all can when we're pumped up speaking the truth. Your points are well taken because IMO the vast majority reading them TRULY HEAR you. I, myself, like your post side that refers to "having a responsibilty to team, period". Makes sense to me! Mick said it best! We all get by with a little help from our friends.

I know what it is like to transfer because I did it myself entering my senior year. Nobody on here has the right to say you shouldnt never transfer or that person should be looked upon differently or the school he transferred to violated some rule. Braves knows of my situation and he knows what I went through at my first high school. When I transferred people were trying to say that they bought me or I hated that county I came from. The reason I left was due to the fact that about a week before school started, they hadn't signed a coach yet. When you see that as an athlete, you must think about yourself and what kind of person are they going to hire. I didn't want my senior playing for a guy that has no clue about the game of baseball. I went to the other school because of two things baseball and my education. I transfered because I wanted to make sure I was seen and had the right people seeign me play. If you look at the education factor, the two schools don't even compare. I went from a school at the bottom of the charts up to a school that was known for education. Maybe there are situations where the were recruited or payed or whatever you can imagine, but don't sit here and say transferring is wrong for any athlete to do.

    A) Do you want loyalty to a school and not get you into college ball
    B) Tranfer to another school that will get you to the next level

Yes friendships are great and everything but you have to be greedy sometimes and worry about number 1. I chose "B" and it ruined friendships which was no lose looking back on it. But it got me to where I am today and I can look back and have no regrets.

Many of you sit here and say "what if he transfer to another school and takes a spot from a player already there." Well that comment serves as your answer because that means the player there just got replaced. If you dont believe me then watch what happens every year in college.

No offense sportsmom, but showcase baseball is one of the greatest things to happen to recruiting. Whether it's AAU, USSSA, Legion, etc.

Where I do agree with you sportsmom is that schools main focus should be academics. But we all know that whether for good or bad (There are a lot of factors I could get into this with but i'm not going too) but athletics bring crowds which turns into profit. So it sucks for kids not into sports but it is about the money and people have to accept that.

    LClefty...thanks for being respectful.

I understand that every situation is different, but I just see things as getting a little out of hand at some places. I am not on here to bash any program or individual so I won't call names. At the same time, I know there are situations that are difficult.

I agree that showcase ball is good for recruiting for those who can participate, but like I stated...there is a lot of talent overlooked because some kids just don't have the means to participate in it. I wish there could be a happy medium and coaches still really look to high schools too.

I agree and understand too that some things are about the money, politics, etc., but if I believe it's wrong, I don't think I'll accept it. I hope that others who have a passion such as yourself won't accept things just because that's how it is, but that you'll work to change things if needed!

    Good luck to you!

Got to love it. I think you are right on. But you will find that "recruiting" is a taboo term. It has been touched on in past threads. It gets lost. I do agree. :2thumbsup:
