would you guys recommend for a 9 year old just getting started in TB. I know the money range can go from $100.00 to $300.00 plus. What's the pros and cons? Thanks in advance for your help!

Light in weight, cheap in price until she gets accustomed to playing and enjoying the game.

agree with abbeyfan, there is no use buying a double wall bat or a composite bat for her right now. stick with a single wall balanced bat until she gets her groove on...jmho

    One that she can swing......

....,no joke, bat weight and length matters bigtime. If its too heavy for DD to swing PROPERLY through the zone or to long get the bat head on plane efficiently, then all kinds of swing mechanics will falter. Light weight seems to me what worked for both my DDs, and don't forget, kids don't think about hand/grip strength when the ball hits the bat. BING...OUCH! that stings! Make sure that the youngsters have batting gloves on both hands. It helps not only at contact, but in the feel of the bat in her hands preswing. As you know, thats the time at bat when a type grip is a no-no. Lastly, Confidence in all parts of the game are key! A bat, glove, coach, an or good 'ol approval from dad win or lose.
