It seems to me that softball is NOT what it use to be.
Players and parents use to be loyal and appreciated what their coach taught them. Coaches that played against each other respected one another and was good friends. Back then you never saw allot of recruiting other players from other teams or you never seen players hop teams that much. Now it is like as softball turns (As the World Turns T.V show) and musically chairs.
You have coaches saying to players and parents if you don't play for a certain organization then the college coaches won't look at you. That's not all true! On every team there is a diamond somewhere to be found.
If you are good and your team goes to recruit tournaments it doesn't matter if it's a well known organization or just 1 team that doesn't belong to an organization. If your good and they like what they see and have great grades you will be approached by a college coaches when the time is legal to do so.
People if you have a good team and good coaches and your DD is happy stay put. I have seen so many player and parents believe everything and then they leave the team they was happy on. Then when they get to their new team it wasn't what you was told. For example if you was a starting short and got put in left or a starting pitcher and sat on the bench. Before you make big changes please think about real hard.
This is not personal to any one team or organization's. This is just what I have seen over the years. It sure is a cut throat business now.:ylsuper:

    agree

I've been around this for the last ten years or so, and it's always been this way. the grass is always greener on the other side, until you get there. promises, for the most, seem to be made, to only be broken in the persuit of staffing a "great team". I really can't begin to count the number of girls who have went to a team on promises, to only sit on the bench or play every other game. But this is not always the case, there are a butt load of good coaches out there who do live up to their promises, who persue players to fill a need. The only suggestion I have is to ask questions about the team that you may be considering going to. If past promises have been broken to others, do you think it will stop with your dd??? If your dd is happy with the girls and coaching staff she currently plays for . . . . . stay. Most of the college coaches I know look not only for talent, they look for true "team" players. this is just my observation so, ya'all don't jump on me too hard.

Softball is merely a reflection of society today.

Think about it, instant gratification, parents who step on people to get what they want during 8 to 5, their kids are doing the same things....

If we would teach them the right way, I am trying not only with my 3 girls, but with my Lady Blues team and Piedmont High school team in Monroe, then we would have more responsible, caring people/players.

No need to make it anymore complicated than that. I try to teach them to be really careful who you step on as you go up cause one day you are going to come down and those people you stepped on will be coworkers, teamates, roomates at camp or college, whatever.

    Proof In The Pudding !!!

Yes,there are teams that promise kids this or that if they come on board, first of all get with the President of the Organization and get him or her to show you the kids that they have promoted through the years...if they can not produce this list then you may not want to venture into this organization, but on the other hand if the President / Controller of the organization can produce a list of kids that have been excepted into College because of their exploiting of the players talent through individual showcases / portfolio (overview) of the kids, then this is an organization that you might want to be involved..not every organization has the crudentials or the accessibility to reach college coaches..........check it out before you make the jump !!!!:ylsuper:

Yes, there seems to be a lot of movement all the time in travel softball. My experience is that just about every team will lose 1 or 2 players per year for various reasons. If a player is getting better, the team is getting better, and the coach is fair with the players, and at the upper age levels they are being seen by college coaches I see no reason for anyone to leave that situation. On the other hand playing time has to be considered. If someone is not playing at least 50% of the time they are probably wasting their money and need to go to a team where they will get all of the above and at least 50% playing time. There is a travel team for everyone in my opinion.
