Tell her not to strike out! Just kidding...

Depends. Was this a one time thing or were things like this that weren't reported going on all season? Would probably leave it up to DD to decide what she wanted to do.

Out of a new shoe, maybe; a player's game shoe, no!

The original NC Challengers used to have to wear a rubber chicken around their neck if they struck out looking.

wearing a chicken around your neck if you strike out. that would be the last time my dd would have played for that team and me and the coach would being doing more that discussing it. anyone who plays has looked at one strike 3 at least once.

It may have been pretty effective; they won a national championship that year!

With the loyalty those players had for the coach, you would have had to go through them to get to their coach! And even as tough as he was, you may have found some of his players to be more than you wanted to deal with.

if that whats you think won the national championship, you don't know much. having been a member of 3 state championships, its more than a chicken around your neck for a K. and when its about my kid, there ain't enough. even kids are smart enough to get out of the way of a mad adult.

We once played a team that, if a player took a third strike looking, the next at bat they weren't allowed to bring a bat into the batter's box.

Only after the first strike did they get their bat back. If they weren't going to swing, why have it?

I have learned the hard way not to comment on what others do without all the facts. Some times a coach talks with the team and they come up with some type of punishment for errors or mental mistakes. If the team is in aggreement then I have no problem with it. If the team comes up with the punishment then they are much more willing to take responsibility for the mistake and thus be a better player and team. Sometimes teams have "inside" things going on. I know some of the things I say to my girls mean nothing or seem "silly" to others but trust me in that my girls know and actually like this type stuff. This is the kind of stuff that handled properly can make a team a family.

Now, that would have been interesting! Maybe that's taking it a little too far, though.

I guess it depends on the players; what they allow. You can only do what your players agree with for the most part.

Most coaches I've known aren't easily intimidated by parents; the players have the power!
