    How about Western Carolina's inaugural season and winning the conference to boot...?

    That's a great idea, not much coverage of college softball, and alot of great local NC talent on that team.

    C'mon everybody...here is your chance. Langston is looking for human interest stories in particular, but the WCU story is very good.

    For anybody who has complained of a lack of interest from the CO staff...you need to respond here with some ideas.... or hold your tongue :)

    Langston let me recommend you come and spend a weekend with us at the ball park. See the committment it takes from parents and girls. The time and money involved. The lessons/skills learned. Talk to the girls or the parents. You will find great human interest stories. Find a big tournament and bring an extra battery for your laptop. There will be plenty to write about. IMO last year's NSA world series in Rock Hill and surronding areas was barely touched by your paper. Come see us!!!

    What about the turnaround made at Freedom? A team which was considered a perennial joke is now a team that's becoming a tough team to beat.

    1-Jamie Burwell (Sophomore, Enka) throwing 3 perfect games.

    2-Laurel Gregg (Freshman, Madison) throwing a perfect game in her first varsity start.

    3- WCU doing so well in their first year.

    4- Don McGeary leading a young Owen team to a Western Highlands 2-A title in his first year back.

    5- Enka going undefeated in the regular season.

    6- Travel ball teams helping make most ALL teams from WNC very competetive and playoff worthy (Owen, Madison, Polk, Enka, Pisgah, Tuscola, A.C. Reynolds, T.C. Roberson)

    Hey Langston,

    How about just the growth of softball in general. I'm willing to bet in the last 5 to 10 years, it has kept pace with soccer?

    too bad the CO doesnt care too much about WNC/Asheville area unless its for a "Road Trip" for those yuppies.
