So you are saying the inclement weather is what makes the series so great? I can believe that in football. But baseball? Man, I don't ever want the weather to be a factor in deciding a baseball game. I understand that there is no choice in the early spring games, but if you ask most fans if they had a choice, I would imagine they would say they would prefer to attend a baseball game in great warm weather.

I'm not saying any of you are wrong, but I'm trying to make a case for others to consider

    No Neutral Site!

First, it would be difficult for fans of a particular team to take that entire week off work with only 4-5 days of advanced notice (or however long it takes for their team to get through with the LCS).
Second, you have to consider the location of the neutral site...say for example Seattle plays the Braves and the game is in Florida. Obviously there are going to me more Braves fans than Seattle fans. Not only would the neutral site take away from any kind of homefield advantage but so would proximity to that teams city.

I think that they just need to cut down on off days and/or shorten the season. That is a ton of games to decide who the best teams are.

I can understand the superbowl being in warm weather or a dome because it is only one game and people can take off for a couple of days to go see it. However, baseball is a SERIES and it should include playing at a teams homefield.

That's no different than the cities representing teams in the Super Bowl. They have a week's notice. So the Seattle Seahawks may still have to play the Tampa Bay Bucs in Miami. It hasn't seem to hurt the interest in the Super Bowl. Which brings up a better point.

Super Bowl is only one game. Obviously, it is hard to get a ticket. The fans of both cities in the World Series would have an even better opportunity to get a ticket for a game.

    Shorter Season/Less off days

Go back to 154 game season and make the first two rounds of the play-offs 3out of 5. It would make the DCS and the LCS more urgent. Every game could be a disaster if lost. The World Series would be better ending by Oct 15th.

    Corporate outing

The Superbowl is nothing but a corporate outing.....Most of the people there aren't there because they have a rooting interest but because it's the superbowl and that's one of the perks of working with or for a particular company. Sure there are going to be a segment of fans for a certain team represented there but not nearly as many people that are there just because of the event.

I would hate to see the World Series become a "perk"....that would be bad for the game.

I hear ya and I don't disagree that the Super Bowl is a corporate event to reward the businesses that support and promote football. But my question would be is the Super Bowl good for football? I would say it is/was the single most important factor in promoting the sport to become way more popular than major league baseball.

I'm not arguing what is best for the fans of the two cities competing, I know how they would feel, but I am debating what is best for the league and its future interest with the next generation (which is iffy at best) and all the other fans of MLB...including the casual fan.

Personally, I find the Super Bowl, after all the hype, to be generally boring. But I believe baseball would do a much better job because it is a SERIES and not a one game winner-take-all event.

I could not agree more. Unfortunately, next year it is slated to go into November

Great hot stove discussion from Braves, an out of the box thinker if there ever was one. However, I am with East99 an Al Ash on this one.

Realistically, I agree with them. But it is an interesting topic and I was trying to feel out what others thought......but I'm running out of gas and not getting much support from the other side.

I'm thinking that baseball fans in general are very loyal to their sport and its history and will fight tooth and nail before accepting change. Although I'm getting worn down in my arguments, I'm still going to try to change someone's mind
