    even less

Dont forget to add in field prep and repair time, maintaining equiptment then add the meetings with "concerned" parents. Saturdays at scrimmages and such. Makes it less then $2.00 per hour I would guess, and then most put that and more of their own money into the program to keep it running. But the coaches I know would not trade it for the world.

    another state champ coach leaving

also coach Roper at two-time State 1A champion Pender HS has resigned, citing following his daughters college career and more free time w/ family, etc. .

    Why

Coach Lloyd has accomplished a great deal in his years at Butler and has small children, so I am sure he wants some more free time. Very few coaches from HS to college could possibly do it for the money. The money at the college level unless U are at an elite program will not provide for many extras for a family and the time spent is unreal. Most coaches I know spend 50-70 hours a week and travel most of the year when U include recruiting and spring and fall seasons.

HS coaches just can not be compensated enough to deal with issues and hours involved so they have to love what they do. There are some great ones out there. Coach Lambros, Coach Monte, Coach Pointdexter, Coach Gabby, and many others are prime examples of the love of the girls, as all of their former and present players have nothing but respect.

Good luck to Coach Lloyd! I wish him the best in his new endeavor.

Good coaches see the writing on the wall...

Not to say things won't be as successful...but losing players like Butler and Central are to graduation, why not go out on top?

why didn't I think of that?

Or they could just wait until your kids are born and reach HS age...then I'm sure we'd have a winning season, politics not withstanding :47: :46:

    JK  aka just kidding!
