Which is the oldest FP Travel Ball Organization in NC????

    I know NC switched to fast-pitch softball in the mid 90's but I was wondering which organizations have been around the longest. Many organizations have came and went while others are still around.

    Maybe Comets?

    Carolina Comets with Sharon Bailey started around 1994, at least that is the oldest picture on her site.

    Carolina Cardinals began in 1989.

    Unless someone can post an argument to the contrary, I've always heard that it was Ray Chandler that brough fastpitch softball to NC in the late 80's.

    My opinion is that the Carolina Cardinals are the oldest organization in NC.

    The CAROLINA COBRAS has been around since 1996.

    Cardinals Were the First in NC

    Ray is also responsible for fastpitch being played in NC high schools. If not for his efforts and persistence with the NCHSAA, we would be still be playing slow pitch in NC high schools.

    It sounds like it was the Cardinals organization.

    The Triangle Patriots and NC Challengers (coached by Ray McGee) were pretty early teams also.

    Sharon began coaching softball in 1990.She was head coach of Davidson, NC Recreational League 1993-1994 for: 8u slow pitch. Head coach 1994 Carolina Panthers 8u slow pitch. Head Coach Davidson, NC Recreational league 1995-1996 10u Slow pitch. Head coach 1995-1996 WD construction 10u slow pitch. In 1997 Sharon’s team moved up from 10u to 12u and she renamed her team the Carolina Comets.
