    I've said for two years that Whit is one of the top players in the state. She has the speed to terrorize any defense, the stick to lay down perfect bunts and hit to the gaps, and she has a great arm in the outfield. While the press release says she will be starting at second base next year for North Greenville, put her in centerfield and dare anybody to get an extra base hit.

    You have to give the North Greenville coach a lot of credit. Somebody needs to get hold of his secret. For a DII program to have snared her from the likes of Florida State, Auburn, ETSU and other ACC and SEC programs (as was reported in the Asheville Citizen-Times two weeks ago) less than two weeks before the end of the allowable NCAA recruiting season is truly a remarkable accomplishment. She must have agonized over that decision.
