Can somebody go by Braves house and make sure he's alive. It's 9:04am and I'm used to seeing 4:13 posts. Last night might have been more than he could handle.:imagestor

Nope....I am always awake and Mudcat, you have me mistaken with Prepster. The reason coaches talk to me is because I don't 2nd guess them

    I first guess 'em

and that goes for umpires too!

Okay, I'll be serious for a second. First of all, there are not any bad coaches in Charlotte. We are blesssed with an abundance of very good coaches...and they are all different in their approaches.

I will only speak of those I know personally:

Coach Chet Greeson- In my opinion, will become the next SM coach. He will continue to have success in keeping South Meck a powerhouse.

Coach Danny Hignight- I'll be the first to admit that Danny and I have had a few difficulties, but they have been like a brothers feuding type situation. I love Coach Hignight, personally and professionally. There is absolutely nothing I wouldn't do for that man. He is solid, loyal and good character. If he remains at Providence, he will have the field named after him. He is perfect for that job!

Coach Ron Coltrane- Although I have not met Coltrane, I have been an admirer from afar. He is the best game day coach in the area.

Coach Mark Mennitt- I know, he is not in Charlotte any more, but I hope he will be in the future. The players love him, he knows the game...a great motivator and teacher. Charlotte misses Coach Mennitt...and I do too!

Coach Rhodes- The dean of all coaches. Forgotten more than all those coaches combined. A great, great coach!

Coach Simmons- Again, not knowing him personally, I know many of his former and current players and they all are in awe of him. His record speaks for itself.

I know there are other coaches that deserve attention, but I don't know them and I don't feel comfortable in giving an opinion.

When it comes to coaches in Meck.County or even the surrounding area, I would probably have to start my list with Chet Greeson as well, for the same reason Braves "hopes" he's the next coach at South. Other coaches may do this better or do that better,,, but Chet does it ALL well, from communication to baseball knowledge. He's been very successful and will continue to be successful regardless of where he coaches out the rest of his career.
