I believe Brooke Isley pitched in the first game against the San Diego Thunder. The defense was phenominal(sp?). Cardinals got their lone run on two consecutive walks followed by a pass ball doulble "steal". That placed runners on 2nd and 3rd. An excellant bunt remained fair and scored the runner from third. As for the second game, Mendy pitched and shut down the Oklahoma Blazers. Cardinal offense was great. There were several hits, but no further details yet. They play their first game tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 and then a second game @ 6:45 (central time). Will update as we hear.

    Colorado Update

Well, it has been two more great days of softball out in Colorado for the Cardinals. Yesterday, they beat the California Case Batbusters 2-1. Folks, they are one of the best teams out there. Brooke Isley pitched a super game. Unfortunately, they lost the second game against the Colorado Commotion. Mendy pitched that one but their defense was not one of their best outings. However, they came back strong today beating another gold team, the Texas Katy Express. Brooke pitched once again and won 2-1. Their defense was great once again holding the Express to only one hit. The last game today was against the Arizona Hot Shots. They beat that team 7-6 on two 2-run homers in the 5th inning by Mollie and Kellie Allen. Karlie pitched most of that one; Mendy came in to relieve her and Brooke closed it out in the 6th. That's the end of pool play; the Cardinals placed second in their pool. They were 4-1-1. The Case Batbusters took first with a 5-1 record. There were a toal of 10 pools. The single elimination tournament begins tomorrow. After a first round bye, the Cardinals will play @ 3:00 p.m.Will be some more great softball tomorrow!

Cardinals Place in the Top 16!

Yestersay was a busy day for the Cardinals in Colorado. North Carolina was represented well! The girls made it to the sweet 16 round before losing to the California Sharks. They won the first and second games of the single elimination tournament on Monday by a score of 1-0 each game. Both games were pitched by Brooke Isley. Again there was a stellar defense behind her as well. By the third consecutive game at 8:45 central time, it looked like the girls would pull off another upset. Mendy had pitched four super innings and the Cardinals were up 2-0. But the Sharks came back to take it 4-2. This was a fabulous tournament with wall-to-wall D-1 college coaches watching. This was some of the best softball played this year and the southeast talent has come a long way!
