Of course, we know the statewide names and it's fine to post them again, but I would like to hear about the one's that are rarely mentioned but are deserving of attention. I'm really interested in the 06's, but '07 is fine, too.

Believe it or not, I'm going to schedule myself for the spring to go watch these guys posted on here...kinda like a cheap version of Impact Baseball :D and post a summary of the game.

    Okay.....now give me some names!!!!!!!!

I'm biased to the West Stokes guys cause that's where I went. Cory Crumley and Andrew O'Neal are one of the best middle infield combos in the state in my opinion. Some of the plays they made last year were amazing. They flip flopped throughout midway through the year but either one can lead off and both have power. Andrew runs a 4.28 40 or something like that. I think one of them will lead off next year and the other will bat third. Andrew had a down year this year so I can imagine he's gonna go off next year. He came around in the playoffs and I heard he did well in Legion ball. Crumley has started at shortstop since his freshman year and O'Neal has started at 2nd since his sophomore year. O'Neal can also play outfield if need be but he's at second for West. Thomas Newsome is the other one I would mention of the 06 graduates. He tops out like 78 but has a changeup that makes you look stupid. He gets a lot of ground outs or lazy pop ups to the infielders. He pitched very well in the playoffs last year and was the winning pitcher in West's win over Owen in the Western Finals. Those are just my three to watch.

2 kids to watch from North Davidson & one from Central Davidson:

06...Andrew Hunt...Lefty who was the 4A CPC player of the year. Andrew hit .390, but was 10-1 during the high school season. He was 6-1 for Lexington Post 8 this summer. Andrew tore his ACL 4 years ago, but they delayed the surgery until his growth plate closed. That is why he was operated on July 17, which cost Post 8 their co-ace (along with Andrew Morton). Hunt throws in the low 80's & has a nasty change-up.

I hope it is OK to include the following 08 kids...They will garner alot of attention the next few seasons:

08...Zack White...Zack is a rising sophomore with sky high potential...Lefty who was North's #2 & Lexington Post 8's #3 starter. Clocked at the State Finals by a college scout cruising at 84 & topping at 87. Good control & very very gritty. He wants the ball in all situations. His changeup is a work in progress & will be his out pitch. In Cherryville Zach beat Shelby in the 5 inning shortened game & lost to Pitt County 4-2.

08...Zack Briggs...Shortstop for Central Davidson. Zack is a rising sophomore who hit mid .400's for CD & .360 for Post 8. He batted in the 3 hole & was one of the key reasons for Lexington's amazing turn around this summer. Good power...strong arm. Huge upside.

What about the Tysinger kid at Central? Switch hitting third baseman? He'll be a junior this year, right? He's been good the past two years against us.

Briggs hit third for Central last year didn't he? He was a really good hitter and I think he hit one out against us at West this year.

I'd add in Matt Tysinger from Central Davidson.

Also, Keegan Linza is a rising junior at North Rowan. He's a pitcher, threw about 86 at an Impact showcase this summer with a good curveball. I think he may have thrown a changeup a few times but I'm not sure how it was. He's got the mechanics and the build to be pumping upper 80's/low 90's as a senior. He should be the #1 pitcher in the CCC next year followed by 06 grad Philip Hilliard at Salisbury.

I've heard of this kid. A guy that played on our team last year was from South Caldwell. Also, one of the pitchers at Surry CC that I had a class with last year was from South Caldwell and they told me about this kid.

Hickory High's Derek Boliek...He is in the '07 class and one of the top in his class. Hit over .450 as a sophmore and has good speed. Should be in the top of states in hitting in '06. Just someone to look out for.....anyone else second this?
