Yes, they could have. He was wanting to get back home...but not now. He has a premiere HS baseball factory, a new child and a new home. He won't be going anywhere for about.....30 years.

Yes, but he is in a no-win situation. If the team succeeds, the players will receive all the credit. If they lose, they will blame it on the "incompetence" of the coach. I feel sorry for that guy.

cheesecake,You've had some very good post about AC.However you must either have a kid on the team or you are close to the coach. This coach hasn't been a
competent coach in several years.Back about 5yrs ago ,I believe that AC lost in the 3rd rd in the state tourn. This coach made some very poor decisions that cost them the game against Butler that year.He had made poor decisions all along but he got away with them.Hope that his stupid decisions dont cost this fine group of young men a shot at the state title.

I think ACHS will be the team to beat this year, they have a lot of talent and a good core of senior leaders. It will depend on how well they hit as a team as to how far they go in the play-offs. This team has the most depth pitching it's had in a lot of years. Probably as good or better than the teams of the early 90's. The defense is solid also, so it will depend on hitting and scoring runs. I think Watauga will finsh second, they have some good players (I think they have several seniors) and they are always well coached.Coach Hardee does a great job. Mcdowell will be good when Taylor is throwing. South Caldwell will be young but I think they will be competative as usual. Don't know much about East Burke except they lost their two main pitchers last year to graduation. Freedom will have some young guys back that can play. Don't know much about AC Renolds, they were pretty good last year but I don't know who they have back. It should be interesting again this year. You never know what might happen in baseball. It help's if you can catch a break every now and again. :xyzthumbs

hardball, Sounds like you have had a kid to play for this coach about 5 years ago, what did he not get enough PT or what. And did Comer not hit the ball that day against Butler or did he have alot of errors. Well just give it time the parents will complain if he dont win this year and they probably will do him like they did the best softball coach in the state. RUN HIM OFF. Ive watched this coach for several years, he works the kids hard and he can only do so much to get the team ready to play. And no hardball I dont have a kid playing for Comer.

Playme, you seem to know a lot about ACHS so I assume you have or did have a son that played there. You sound highly critical on the admin., the AD, and the Head coach. I will agree that through the years even when I was in school there (many years ago) they have always looked within the school system to hire first. As for replacing Comer with the coach at East I guess that would be Coach Adkins since he is the baseball coach. AC hit Taylor pretty well in the conf. tourney so that might be a good sign of things to come. Either way I hope that your a true fan of AC and will be supportive of these guys as they strive to do their best! :xyzthumbs

There are just an overexertion of political influence on this Alexander Central Baseball Team and it deeply saddens me to see this. Everyone just needs to stick to playing the game and not about the politics. :xyzthumbs

*Alexander Central plays McDowell Tues. Hope the weather is good for this barn burner.
