The two Mauldin pitchers are 7th & 8th graders

In general, I agree that 7th & 8th graders would be better off not playing varsity. Mauldin played undefeated Enka to two 3-2 scores on Thursday. The two girls pitching for Mauldin were in 7th and 8th grade respectively. Their #1 pitcher, a sophomore, quit before the first game. These two girls have done a respectable job.

    Question ?

7th & 8th grade. In North Carolina they would be in Middle School and could not play for HS. Sure must be different in South Carolina ???

    7th & 8th grades

I do not see why a pitcher would want to play in hs, instead of working on her style, form, and other things to make her one of the top in the state. Not sayin that in 7th and 8th you are not at the top. But you may not have the reaction time you need to play in hs. You see girls who hit line shots back at the pitcher to were you can not possibly have time to react if you are not prepared to do so. I know that sometimes girls in 7th and 8th hit hard, but you have to look at the risk you are taking, you maybe losing sum really good hs players to a couple of good ms players.

    how about 6th graders?

where I live, middle school comprises 6th - 8th graders, but the 6th graders are not eligible to play middle school sports.
