I meant that if they are swinging away and get caught out in front with a change up to square their feet around, slide their hand down the bat and try to bunt it.

To be honest with you, if my girls get suckerd with a changeup even when I warn them it is likely coming, they fold up and their brains turn to jello in that split second decision! LOL "God I love this game" LOL

Element of surprise dictates in coaching....

.....that anything is possible! I've had teams that small balled others half to death. You and the rest of us know that the simple fact of making a team on defense have to field and throw a ball, even in the most elementary situations, all hell can break loose! 0-2 count, if I have confidence in the ability of the batter to drop it down, I'll do it. If a bunt situation a moving a runner exists, why fake it? I'll give my batter 3 strikes to bunt that ball in play and achieve my offensive goal. What really chaps my ass is when coaches have a take sign on or don't give the bunt originally and BAM! first pitch is a strike and then the coach thinks they are pulling one off on the defense by laying one down. Either you're bunting or not. For the most part, bunts are outs! Period. Don't take the bat out of a kids hands by thinking that as the coach you're outsmarting the other team by putting your batter one strike in the hole. and for bunting, its one of the most powerful entities in this game. Its won many games! Just ask UCLA! Lastly, I love aggressive coaching of a teams play. JMO
