Wilkes Legion

Just in case anyone didn't know; Wilkes County has forfeited their remaining games this season because their team has fizzled much like Montgomery County's did last season. This is getting to be a norm for teams like these and I don't know why they keep trying to have teams when it doesn't work out every year. The interest obviously isn't there nor is the committment. I know some of these programs may not have the sponsors or community support like some of the stronger programs do, but if they can't keep a team on the field and get enough players to have a team, they shouldn't be allowed to keep having teams. I wish all the teams locally would have competing teams, but that's just the way it is.

 

Its unfortunate that they cannot sustain a legion team up there, because their home field (Wilkes Central High School) has absolutely one of THE BEST playing surfaces among everywhere we go, it compares right up there with Newman Park as far as beauty and playing surface.

 

Could the players from Wilkes play for another Legion team?

 

No, not now that the season has started and they played with Wilkes. Actually teams' final rosters are due (must be postmarked) TODAY June 23 anyway.
