There was a cold wind blowing all day in Salisbury. It didn't seem to affect the players. I watched some really good games through the shivering I was doing. I got pictures of most teams there. Hope everyone enjoys.

    You make the call

Need a second opinion on a call made by "blue" that decided my DD's team fate on Sunday morning in this tournament. Her team was up 5-4, bottom of six inning; we had the other team down to their last strike. They had runners at 1st and 3rd. Pitcher throws one in the dirt, catcher misses it. Runner scores from third, girl at first had rounded second when ball when into the dugout. Base umpire awards her home plate and we lose. IMO, bad call on many fronts, but especially on his interpretation of the rules.
Someone please tell me whether this really was the right call or not; but back it up with what it says in the rule book since I don't have a copy. This was a terrible way for these girls to lose; and to make matters worse it was the result of a bad call and not one team out playing another.

SHould've been runner on third, you are suppose to go with where the runner is at the time of pitch when the ball went in the dugout... IMO bad call...

have had many calls in nsa like that, their view of the rule is the base you were going too plus one for penalty. have even had that one called in hs, but most ofter, its just the base you were going too....

Congrats to Kip and the girls....

After a long day Saturday and another long day Sunday, the Carolina Crush (AKA Lady Blues 14u in 08) played with lots of heart and unity this weekend. Saturday was tough as they played a really good Comets team losing twice in close games, and also losing a close game to the Cougars in pool play. But all of that didn't matter as Sunday was a new day with a single elimination bracket. Kip had the girls fired up and ready to play hard. Lots of strong hits, clutch hits, as well as timely baserunning all day Sunday made the difference as the Crush defeated some good teams to go undefeated Sunday. Nice job to big K on 1st for hitting the MONSTER shot in the championship game with the ball going into the parking lot......WOW. There was no doubt on that one!

    1- Carolina Crush(Lady Blues)
    2- Starz
    3-Carolina Troublemakers/ MSA Cobras

Thanks to Cometfan for sitting with me in the cold some Saturday as well as for the great pics! See ya next season.

    ????? on Play

How does a wild pitch or passball go into the dugout unless a throw has been made after the wild pitch? Was there a throw being made to 3rd if so then its a judgement call on when the ball enters the dugout and where the runner is at that time.
Did the ball hit a pole behind catcher and bounce to the dug-out?

ASA Official Rule: Rule 8 G-1, When a fielder loses possession of the ball and the ball leaves live ball territory or becomes blocked.
EFFECT: Each runner is awarded one base from the last base touched at the time the ball entered the dead ball area or become blocked.

Your right Cheeze the NSA rule book says 2 bases.

    I thought so...

The ball bounced off the catcher's shin guard and somehow found the dugout. Per the rule stated above, the last based touched by the runner who was on 1st was 2nd base...so she should have been awarded 3rd base ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!:censored::censored::censored:
Anyway, congrats to the Crush. Too bad we couldn't have faced you in this tournament. We've beat you in the past, would have been interesting to see how it ended up this time. Look forward to playing you in 2008.
We will be The Carolina Blues in 2008; as we were in 2007!
