    Two ways of looking at this. Either the NW4A is weak or their first round opponents from the (Charlotte) Metro and SW4A have been stronger than average.

    For the past two years, North Meck, South Meck, Independence and Providence all have been ranked in the Top Ten in the state, with Indy and South Meck playing for the State Championship the past two years. Myers Park played for the Championship the year before that. Charlotte is strong again this year. The fact that the NW4A has had a little trouble getting past those teams is not indicative of the strenth or weakness of their conference.

    Playoffs are a different type season...one game and your gone.

    I personally think the best HS baseball for the past few years has been in Charlotte, but I also want to inject some underlying numbers.
    The ADM (average daily membership) for 4-A schools ranges from 1385 to 2664, a disparity of 1279 students from top to bottom. In contrast, the 3-A range is 1038-1377-a difference of only 339 students from top to bottom.
    If you use the same range for 4-A as 3-A, the 4-A would be capped off at 1724.

    Six of the top ten (ADM) schools are in Charlotte;
    1. Independence 2664
    2. Myers Park 2612
    5. Providence 2432
    6. North Meck 2369
    9. East Meck 2224
    10. South Meck 2207

    The four strongest baseball programs in the NW-4A with their respective ADMs are;
    Alexander Central 1555
    South Caldwell 1546
    AC Renolds 1441
    Watauga 1519
