WNC Fall Baseball Select Game

WNC's Fall Wood Bat league is made up of 16 teams(mostly HS teams) from western NC. We've played a 13 game regular season schedule and are now involved in our season-ending tournament. The league officials have scheduled a "select" game on Sat. Oct 20 at 4:30 at McCormick Field which will be made up of the best 22-24 players from this fall league as chosen by league officials. These players will be divided into two teams to play one game. Should be some pretty decent talent on the field for that game. It's a great time to come to Asheville to watch some good baseball. The leaves should be close to full color.

When you consider the teams represented in this league there is some tremendous talent playing here this fall. The select game is a new twist on what has become a very popular fall league here in the mountains. I can remember when we had only 8 teams playing. There is not an evening that goes by that the local college coaches are not in attendance. The kids from the mountains that venture out and play showcase on the weekends also participate during the week in this league. That is what has made it so successful and competitive. The 22-24 selected for this game will all be playing somewhere beyond high school.

 

WNC Select......

The select team will be playing Blue Ridge CC in their game at McCormick. I think it is set up to be either one 9 inning game or 2 seven inning games depending on time.

Mudcat and NCMtn are both correct, there is alot of talent in this league and alot of these young men will go on to play at the next level. Should be a fun game to watch on saturday and look forward to seeing a good game.
