I got back involved in coaching a team in this league this fall. The level of competition has been really good for all the kids involved. When you have teams like TC Roberson, AC Reynolds, West Henderson, Enka, Patton, RS Central, Appalachian Alliance(Tuscola, Swain, and Hayesville), Enka, North Buncombe, Owen, East Henderson, etc teeing it up a couple of nights a week provided for some very competitive baseball. 15 total teams in the league this year. Each team was allowed 2 sophmores with the balance of the team all juniors and seniors. The season ending tournament starts this week with most games at McCormick field in Asheville. This league was well run and well attended by college guys.

This Saturday will be an event at McCormick field for seniors and a few select juniors. Numerous college coaches will be in attendance. There will be a workout and then the kids will be divided into 2 teams for a game so they can be observed in a game situation. After that game the college coaches can request certain players to play in a 2nd game which will be vs the Blue Ridge Community College team so that the players can be further evaluated.

Sunny and 60 on Saturday with leaves in full color. Would make for a nice day trip for some of you city folk.

    WNC FALL BALL

Muddie it is good to see you around and kicking!

You are spot on about this league. Great teams, ballplayers and the way it is run is second to none.

I would encourage any around Asheville on saturday to take in the games. Alot of talent I know. Having watched the teams from RS Central, Patton, Enka and App Alliance, West Henderson, there are some outstanding ballplayers.

    WNC Fallball Showcase

Had a good time yesterday at this event, would like to say thank you to those involved in getting this together. Had good weather and several college coaches there. Had a lot of talented players there, it was fun to watch them take "BP" and see all those long balls flying over the fence at McCormick field. The game that followed the showcase with Blue Ridge was also fun to watch some high schoolers against the college boys. I believe the college boys were surprised with the power some of these kids brought to the plate, again I would like to say thank you to all involved.
