Where is their conference tournament going to be held? and when?
AC Reynolds second seed?

 

If Alexander loses to South Caldwell thursday and AC Reynolds wins they will both tie for first place. In the past seeding ties were broken by who ever goes the fartherest in the conf. tourn. Right now Alexander AC Reynolds and SC will go into the playoffs. The number 1 seed here is very important as they get the sw4a 3 seed. The 2 seed gets meca-8 number 1 seed (Central Cabarrus) The number 3 seed gets number sw4a number 1 seed (Butler). It is very important for Alexander to get the 1 seed as no one would like to be the 2 seed and have to face CC in the first game. South Caldwell will actually get an easier draw by being 3 seed. But still Butler is one of the two best teams in the state. Don't seem quite fait that the nw4a 2 and 3 seed both have to play 1 seeds out of the two strongest conferences in the state in the first round. I think a two seed from any conference shouldn't have to play a 1 seed in the first round. I have looked at the brackets and with a little thought this could be avoided

 

3A Tourney

Question: Is the 3A conference tourney going to be like basketball? In basketball, the top three seeds from regular season play are assured playoff births UNLESS a lower seeded team WINS the tourney. In that case, the #3 seeded team would stay home. Anybody know?

One more thing: If so, that means regardless of the tourney's outcome the first and second seeds will automatically advance to the playoffs.

AC Reynolds at Enka

A.C. Reynolds 1-0 over Enka

Enka loses their first game to a good team. I know you wouldn't expect me to say to a bad team but they really are a good team. The winning pitcher for Reynold was Jenelle Trifon. I call her "Nellie" because thats how she introduced herself to me when she was 13 years old. She will always be Nellie to me but she has grown into such a fine young lady that she is Jenelle.
Katie Blankenship pitched a good game for Enka as well. The first and only run was scored in the top of the first inning on a single by Dana Burton. CFBall if you are looking for All State Candidates I cannot say enough about Dana. Enka missed their shot at tying the game in the bottom of the sixth but a double play with a runner on third ended the threat.

This was a fun game to watch. The first 2 innings were scoreless. Enka scored 1 run in the 3rd, Reynolds scored 1 in the 5th.
Enka came back and scored 3 runs in the 4th and 1 in the 5th to win.
