as far as the local teams go...I thought McDowell looked okay being that it was the first scrimmage. The Lady Titans technically won 3 of 4 scrimmages, the one they loss was to Salisbury. In that scrimmage, looked like Mike was mainly focusing on getting all the girls equal time on the court. That also looked to be the focus in two of the scrimmages we won (West Caldwell and Calvary). The one scrimmage in which it looked like we actually was playing to win was the scrimmage against Eastern Randolph. Eastern Randolph has a very good team, a 5' 11" guard/forward that has verbally committed to West Virginia, and (two) six foot post players.

Early in the game, McDowell tried to run man-to-man and Eastern Randolph took advantage. But Mike changed it up and played some zone and that was the end of that. Lea Smith and Ebonique Hamilton IMHO played very well against two girls that were about 2-3 inches taller. All in all, it's a good warmup for the Lady Titans.

Also got to see Freedom's Ali Ford for the first time...I was impressed. It will take a little time for her to adjust. I noticed some things she did on the court that she probably got away with in Middle School, that she won't be able to do at varsity level. But all in all, you gotta be happy if you are a fan of Freedom basketball.

no idea what they were last year. We ran on them pretty well. If they played in the NW4A conference, they would be down at the bottom. That's about the only comparision I cam make of them.

I wasn't there to witness it, but from all reports I was given by staff and players alike AC Reynolds put on a dominating performance at North Buncombe in their scrimmage this past week. Looking forward to the ACR @ Asheville game on Tuesday (assuming it's played, not sure it will be should football still be going on) Asheville has a long winning streak but lost ALOT of players to graduation, but do return a couple of impact players. Should be interesting!

Well, I know that in the past Asheville has had the MAJORITY of their BOYS team come from the football team, and not to mention a couple of our players as well, and IF they are still involved in football they will postpone ALL the games (JV's and Varsity) until that season is over because neither team is anywhere near full strength. What fun is a Varsity boys game that has 6 or 7 of your best players missing from it, that is a waste of time? Of course it's up to Asheville it's their home game and I think ACR is only missing 2 players (Harper and Anderson) so I think ACR would play. This will all be mute if we lose tonight....right!
