I think they are trying to be.. creating safety equipment standards, bat standards, etc... They are getting there. But they arent THE national softball organization yet.

You are misinformed. The USA National and past Olympic teams are all part of ASA/USA softball.

Check this link and read about the history of ASA and their efforts over the years (since 1933).

    Keep the fun!

if we had not played wildcat ball for 10, 12 and 14 under, we would have never discovered showcase ball! most wildcat ball occurs within 100 mile radius of team base; arguably a bit more economical than showcase. i think wildcat ball should be included in the process to improve ourselves nationally and internationally. its fun! u play on a team with 9-11 players playing back to back in 4 game gaurantee setups. u work hard and u learn. maybe the various wildcat sanctions could compile stats or recomendations about the players they see to form a sort of all-star team that would be allowed to play in some showcase events by the showcase organizers. Ever see the movie "wolfman?" when my kids turned 14, they changed! as a parent, it was hard to realize that one wanted to play college level and the most talented one wanted to be a rapper. tarnation! anyway, without showcase, we would have never got a second look from any colleges. is it fun? yeah, not as fun as wildcat play. hard work? yeah, almost like college. the showcases want polished players so the kids have to develop good personal work habits and be self motivated. (thats the hard part for most 14 year olds!). anyway, i think there is a place for both showcase and wildcat teams. How can we support each other is the continuingquestion.
