Depends on how many games you play.
Summer (playing legion ball or showcase) + fall (city league or showcase) > varsity experience.
Ah, the unknown variable for each team, S+F.
I do know that only 3 returning South Caldwell players saw much action during the Legion season (Messer,Chavis,Penny), but they all did well.
Compare that to the year before, and you see why the NW4A door is wide open.

Watauga has always thought they were going to be number 1. There is know way that they are going to beat Messer. He's a dominant pitcher, every time he takes the hill this year, he is going to walk off with a W.

Penny didn't play Legion Ball last year but another one of SC's pitcher, Cody Poarch did and pitched pretty dang good

Thanks, I knew it was one of those pitchers whose last name starts with a P.
I'll be interested to see who is gonna protect Chavis in the batting order.
The poor guy is probably gonna get more walks than Barry Bonds.
He's a bona fide masher. 14 HRs in legion is strong !

I've been hearing a lot of good things about Poarch and Penny showed well when he had his opportunities last year....I just call them the Cody's "Squared". They both are very important to their season.

After reading my post I made it sound like Penny wasn't good enough for legion last year and that wasn't what I meant. Just stating that Poarch was the one playing there. Been hearing some good things about Penny this year and he did well in the playoff game at north Davidson last year. Look for big things out of him and Poarch this year

I don't believe anyone did, reporter. There is no question that Cody Penny is the real deal. I'm expecting him to explode this year.

knockemout-Don’t hold your breath waiting on a response to your questions. In looking at their stats, WHS’s ace only had 5 wins in 13 appearances. Their next best pitcher played JV in ’07. They can only talk about the stud “JV” players that they have coming up. That may tell you a little about their returning starters. From what I understand, their best available player isn’t playing because of football. WHS’s record was 11-16 last year. Don’t you think that their coach would have pulled players up last year if they could have helped? Oh well, optimism is good. I wish them a lot of LUCK. Just a word of warning, let a sleeping dog lie. Don’t give Messer any more motivation.

    1 South Caldwell
    2-7 Up for grabs
