The 16U O's have basically flamed out offensively. errors>=hits the past 3 games. :scared2:
Pitching actually is quite decent given the level of competition and age, no support however. Today's loser, Folgenitto, gave up something like 4 or 5 hits with 6K's in 4 innings; Morris pitched 3 shutout innings in relief. O's had 3 hits and 3 errors.

Megastars Red finish tournament with a 2-2-1 record. Black team finishes 3-2.

Impressive pitching performances from Robby Bray, as mentioned earlier in this thread, followed by Chase Martin's (CCS)complete game, 13 K outing that resulted in a 3-3 tie with the TASBA Grays. Chase was consistently 82-83 on the gun from start to finish. Kyle Barthelson (CCS) got the win against Druid Hills with 12 K's, 79-80 fastball and a nasty 70 mph curve. Drew Wallace (Prov. Day) pitched a gem against the KC Whitesox allowing only 5 hits, but took the loss 4-0, in a game where the Red's stuggled at the plate. Drew was in high 70's with his fastball, used a great change, but his curve is his go to pitch.

Offensively, Red team scattered hits throughout tournament, but generally struggled with the wood bats. Griffin McGuirt (CCS) led the team in hitting with a .412 avg. for the tourney. Taylor Patterson went 3-3 in the Druid Hills game.

In field, the middle infield combination of Aaron Bray(Indy) and Charles Bradley (CCS), was near perfect. Keith Mauney(Providence) suffered a sprained wrist diving into a bag in game 1, but still showed his great arm from third.

:xyzthumbs ..Great report, Deacon. It's been awhile since you have posted. It appears that CCS is heading for another run next year.

the 16U O's finished 1-4. Though the record was poor, pitching continued to be good as Andruss (SMeck) lost to eventual finalist S Texas Sliders 3-0. A defensive mis-que on a pop fly wound up leading to 3 two out runs.

Talked to one of the boys who played on the MegaStars last night. Sounded like they had a great time. He was really pumped up about the competition they faced. Congratulations to all those NC boys who have already participated and good luck to the 18Us who start this week and the 15Us who start August 4th.

Megastars Black Team finished up Sat. with an exciting win against the Knoxville Yard Dogs. Dane Arnesen (Providence) pitched a complete game in the 2-1 victory. David Castevens (Myers Park) had a clutch 2 out hit to score the first run and later scored the winning run. Megastars played tough defense throughout the game. In the last inning, Yard Dogs had a man on second with 2 outs, and singled to left. Matt Dameron charged the ball and hit cut off man (Castevens) who fired a strike to Jeremy Price (Olympic) to end the game. Exciting finish! Team finished with 3-2 record, loosing to #1 and #4 ranked teams, missing championship round by 1/2 a point.

Team is off next week to Lexington, Ky. for the USSSA 17U World Series.
    Good Luck Guys
