I had a blue "undead" as he called it, a dead ball! That's like a basketball ref "unblowing" his whistle. Yes, I did get tossed and was happy to do so. The opposing coach almost got tossed for defending me. :banginghe

That is just too freaking funny. That guy should be banned from ever umping again.

:agreed: on the play call. Of course, the ball should have been live.

Nope, he's still out there. Saw him once already this spring. I do have to say this man did apologize to me a few weeks later about the "undead ball" at another tournament. That was classy and I appreciated it, but.........

Just the other week, he told my catcher to move back towards the middle of the plate. We had an 0-2 count and we normally set up 2-3 balls outside. He said my catcher was outside the catcher's box. In between innings I asked him to show me the catcher's box and he said the catcher's box was measured across from the inside lines of the batters box, 3 feet back. He was close, the catchers box is measured from the outside lines of the batters box. (I think it's like 8 1/2 feet wide, the distance across to each outside line on the batters box) I told him I disagreed and asked him to check his rule book between games and let me know what he found. Of course he said he didn't need to check, he knew he was right. Oh well.....

    UNDEAD????

Now that's funny. This is exactly my point, people who officiate these games are either old baseball rejects, or someone who saw an easy way to make a buck. They not only lack knowledge of the rules, but just like the comment that was made, they "KNOW" they are right and refuse to check and learn from their own mistakes. Anyone, even the best officials make mistakes, but those who refuse to learn from theirs are completely foolish and should be removed from officiating. I hear all the time that there are not enough to go around, but give me one per game, that knows the game and will hustle and try to get things correct, and that person would be better for the game and the girls, rather than to put the other one with him that will create trouble.

It is a little late to comment on this situation, but the ball is alive due to the contact of the second basemans glove first....No ????? about it , no rule would over turn that the ball is alive...Something else I've noticed that parents sometimes call the game or question a call and the next thing you know the ump stops the game to converse with the field ump and over turn a call due to a disgruntled parent on the sidelines....GO FIGURE !!!!
