    Know the difference

    THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN IMPROPER BATTER AND AN UNREPORTED SUBSTITUTE. Improper batter refers to a batter that is already listed in the official lineup and fails to bat in the position in which her name was listed. An unreported sub, is a player that has entered the game and has not been properly reported to the plate umpire and then subsequently reported to the other team. Your ruling would be correct for the improper batter, but not for an unreported sub.
