....OK, check this out. Dropped 3rd strike, open base at 1st. Batter/runner takes off to 1st, the ball hits the dirt and caroms off of the catcher then what appears to happen is the batter kicks the ball.
The batter was awarded 1st base.
Did the umps just miss seeing the kick?
Should she be out because she was out of the box and touched the ball?
Should the ball be dead and the other runner already on 2nd moving to 3rd be forced to go back to 2nd if the ump calls the batter who kicked the ball out?
BTW, the "kick" was inadvertant for sure but it was obvious to all, well, most of us us anyway, that there was contact.

All I can figure is that none of the umps saw the contact.

My question is this....what should the call be and why?

    Hmmm..

Hmmmm, what game were you watching....GT vs FSU?? I was at the game and the umps called the kicking of the ball unintentional. I do not know the NCAA rules on unintentional contact, but all I can say is that the catcher failed to catch the ball, and it rolled into the runner's path as she started to run on the dropped 3rd strike.
It was truly the umpire's judgement. I think the umpires did the right thing by huddling and getting each other's opinion or view of the play.

Overall...I enjoyed watching the game I love on a nice SUNNY day in NC.
