    Let me guess. The pitch was a strike and the runner was called out?

    Alright you know the situtation, now here is the call that was made. Umpire called the batter out for interference and sent the runner back to 3rd.

    Home umpire did not ask for help....and if he had probably would have been told "that I hear place settings make a nice gift".

    He must have missed the class where he should have called the runner out too. It's part of the "speed up the game" point of emphasis this year. I'm sure the coach wanted to blow a gasket!

    I saw the play in question. From my point of view, the catcher did not interfere with the hitter or catch the ball or catch the ball in front of the plate. He actually caught it at the back shoulder of the hitter. The hitter actually interfered with the play at the plate and was justly called out. The runner was tagged before he reached the plate, but was sent back to third. The ump said the play was dead when the batter interfered. I am not sure what the rule book says.

    DirtyMO must have been watching from the What-a-Burger down the street. Those burgers are greasy. you must wipe your hands before rubbing your eyes.
