you make the call

This is a question about a call that in no way affected the game.

Batter swings to hit pitch, Ball hits batter on hand during full swing and is hit or pushed into fair territory. Batter runs to first beating out throw, called safe at first. Later he said he made wrong call, he thinks, but not sure.

What is the call / Safe at 1st, out, dead ball return, hit by pitch, or....

 

If the ball hit the hands first then the bat or doesn't hit the bat at all - Dead Ball, Strike on the batter, batter is out if its the third strike. (It sounds like this would be the correct ruling on this action)

If the ball hit the bat first then the hands its a foul ball. You usually only see the ball hit the bat first then the hands when the ball hits the knob of the bat.
