I watched Warner play in person when he was a Ram in '99, and again when he was a Cardinal in '09. That makes me feel old.

I'd still rather have a McDermott/Edwards pairing, of anything. A young DBs guy from an aggressive but not foolish background to go with a leader who can deal with the DBs stuff the younger would otherwise normally focus on.

McGinnis' defenses, as a head coach, were consistently ranked in the bottom end. Especially run D. I still think he's a good option.
He was DC under Tobin and no better. Offensive support helps a ton (98 was their one good year, playoff win and all) and that was when they weren't totally awful on O, but there weren't many good defenses there either.

McGinness isn't bad. I don't get what people have against Haslett, but I put them about the same. Zook had good defenses under him, Venturi was up and down (still think that'd be a good matchup, but there's that 2004 32nd ranking), but they built a good DL and stayed with it. Better than Payton's had, really.
